Our Lady of Medjugorje Message of May 2, 2009 – “Dear Children! Already for a long time I am giving you my Motherly heart and offering my Son to you. You are rejecting me. You are permitting sin to overcome you more and more. You are permitting it to master you and to take away your power of discernment. My poor children, look around you and look at the signs of the times. Do you think that you can do without God’s blessing? Do not permit darkness to envelop you. From the depth of your heart cry out for my Son. His name disperses even the greatest darkness. I will be with you, you just call me: “Here we are Mother, lead us.” Thank you.”
Once again you ask us to call out to your Son. “His name disperses even the greatest darkness.” Mary, sometimes our darkness is so insidious that before we know it, what looked like just a few grey days, have turned blacker than black. (And we thought we were handling it – wonder who told us that?) Our pride, our haughty behavior has stolen our power of discernment. There are no small happenings in our spiritual lives. It all means something, even the grey days. Maybe those times are meant for simply resting in God. Maybe we’re hiding in the darkness because He’s calling us to a new venture and we’re afraid. When we put prayer aside to figure things out for ourselves, we’re forgetting the beauty of God. We’re forgetting about wonder. We’re forgetting Mary’s so very simple solution, “From the depth of your heart cry out for my Son. His name disperses even the greatest darkness.” And our hearts are not meant for darkness, they are meant for the wonder of God.
