Easter, Sunday, April 4, 2010

Have a wonderful Easter, but we must remember that our celebration of the Lord’s Resurrection from the dead should not end on Sunday evening.  Treasure the liturgies of the Easter Season.  Continue the spiritual exercises that you began during Lent.  During these days, read and reflect upon Chapter 20 of the Gospel of John.  Remember Jesus’ beautiful greeting to his dear friend Mary Magdalene in the garden outside his tomb. (John 20:15) Be inspired by Jesus’ greeting to the unbelieving St. Thomas.  “Put your finger here and see my hands and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe.” (John 20:27)  When Thomas responded, “My Lord and my God, Jesus said to him have you come to believe because you have seen me?  Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.” (John 20:28-29)  As believers in our dear Lord, may we accept His beautiful blessing.  May the sacredness of the Easter Season help us to become Our Lord’s devoted servants.  May the blessing of Almighty God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit come upon you and remain with you, forever and ever.  Amen.– Fr. Ed Chalmers
